Join the Yale Press Holiday Party, Virtually

Library

On Friday, Yale University Press was abuzz with excitement for our annual holiday party. The streamers were strung in the library and obscene amounts of baked goods made their way around the building. We are sharing photos and highlights so that our blog readers can virtutally join in the festivities.

When the Honey Runs Out

Consisted of:

2 layers of vanilla honey cake, representing the upper and lower classes

a layer of pastry cream, representing the ever-widening gulf between the haves and the have nots and which threatens future Western economic prosperity

a honey almond crunch topping, symbolizing the sweet bliss the 1% must feel at the top.

Other bake-offs at the party included fruit deserts and chocolate deserts. Special thanks to our judges, who were faced with the onerous task of tasting all of these amazing deserts before lunch, and congratulations to the winners!

The festivities continued with Yale Press-themed limerick readings. Here is a small selection:

Seventeen limericks have been submitted by staff

To be read at Friday’s party for a laugh

Will yours be one?

C’mon, it’s fun!

Someone will read it on your behalf.

There once was a hardworking editor

Who read proof after proof galore

This made her quite peckish

And not being nebbish

She raided the stash on the third floor.
